Welcome to my new blog!

Artitakt!

This blog is devoted to my incursion into the fine arts. I usually paint with watercolour, but am also very fond og both oil paint, acrylics and pastels. I'm mostly self-taught and consider myself somewhere between a beginner and an intermediate hobbyist in the field. I picked up oils again in 2012, trying out the Bob Ross technique, but gradually drifted to watercolour due to an easier setup and cleanup. Before that I mostly painted miniatures for games like Warhammer, which I still do, only not so often. The first time i used oils, was in high school, so I already had some experience with the medium, in addition to modelpainting with acrylics. Though I mostly dabble in watercolour, I now and then get into the mood of doing another medium. For the last two years, or so, I have taken an interest in the urban sketching movement and have made some sketches, mostly done as line and wash in my local community. Furthermore, I am very keen on the technical side of all art material, from paint to brushes, pochade boxes, easels, etc., and enjoy making and altering gadgets to suit different purposes. I think it's half the game!

The title Artitakt is a mirror of my more serious blog "antitakt" dealing with poilitics, theology and philosophy. It has been a while since I have visited that blog, as painting, work and studies seem to take a lot of my time. The word is a play on "art" and "tact", referring to antitakt or antitact meaning a tactful opposition to whatever. The word has several connotations from thre greek Antitactes to "walking out of pace", teaching-styles and a general opposition to "form and order" as constraints.

Though my approach to art is mostly realistic, I do not consider myself a serious classical painter.
Should anything be of iterest, do not hesitate to contact me.
